Moody Hall Congleton is a beautiful, historic Grade II Listed Georgian building and part of that history is Elizabeth Wolstenholme Elmy’s girls’ school which was housed here in the 1860/70s.
But today Moody Hall is in a sorry state and Elizabeth’s Group has launched a campaign to save it for the community, including a petition that you can sign here.
The Hall has been empty for a number of years and the current owners are apparently, doing nothing with the building. We fear it is being deliberately allowed to fall into dereliction.
Elizabeth’s Group would like to see the building used for the community, to house Congleton’s excellent museum, a display of Elizabeth’s life and work and a heritage centre.

We are calling on Cheshire East Council to intervene with a Compulsory Purchase Order to save this building from the sad fate that many of our buildings have suffered.
Please sign our petition and support the Make Moody Marvellous Campaign.
